Construction Industry Scheme (CIS)

Calm, clear support for subcontractors and contractors under the Construction Industry Scheme

If you work in construction as a subcontractor, you may be paid under the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS). Under this scheme, contractors are required to deduct tax from your payments and send it directly to HMRC, usually at a rate of 20%, or 30% if you're not registered with CIS. While it’s designed to help HMRC collect tax throughout the year, it can leave you unsure about what you've actually earned and what you're owed.

At Barleyfields Accountancy, we help subcontractors make sense of the CIS deductions shown on their payslips, track what’s already been paid to HMRC, and stay on top of allowable expenses. Whether you’re new to the scheme or have years of deduction statements tucked away, we’ll make sure your records are accurate and everything is reported clearly in your tax return.
